Emy’s Story
On May 30th, 2017, Emy was born and I discovered a love I never knew existed. I found out I was pregnant on October 7th, 2016 and I spent my entire pregnancy praying for her, wondering what she would look like, buying her clothes, planning and decorating her nursery, and anticipating her arrival. From the moment I laid eyes on Emy, I knew she was my sunshine.
Emy knew who Jesus was and she prayed to Him often. She loved everyone and she rarely met a stranger. She had such a vivacious personality. She smiled with her whole face and it radiated the love she carried in her heart. She loved so unconditionally. She had such a beautiful smile and contagious laugh that often ended with a snort. She had some sass, but what baby girl doesn’t? Her hugs and snuggles were the best, and she loved to give “shoogies” (kisses). As part of her nightly routine I would hum or sing “You Are My Sunshine” while rocking her.
Emy loved life and she lived it abundantly. Every day was a new adventure. She loved the outdoors, playing in her sandbox, swinging, riding the four-wheeler, helping her mammy water the flowers, splashing in the creek, playing at playgrounds, sliding, and anything that pertained to being outside. She loved animals. One of her favorite pets was her dog Hank. She would talk about him at school to her teachers. She would snuggle and get in the crate with him. His gentle demeanor was so obvious and he adored Emy just as much. She got baby chickens for her first Easter and they played in her water table with her. She could distinguish between “geesth”, and “ducks” anytime they flew over. Emy loved to eat and she would steal bites from you or ask for “more”. As her mommy and one who loves to shop, of course, Emy did too! She had more clothes and shoes than you could imagine. She loved being a helper whether it was with laundry, sweeping, cleaning, paying bills, or helping her friends or family. She knew her colors and her favorites were pink, purple, and yellow. She loved to play with play-doh, put on make-up and lip gloss, run, and jump. Before she could walk, she loved stroller rides on the farm. She often hummed during those rides. Emy could count to ten and spell her name, “E-m-y”. She loved to read and be read to. She also loved to watch "The Life of Sammie” on Youtube. It was about the life of a Golden Retriever and the owners would dress up and do fun skits and things with Sammie. She called him “Thammie”. She was involved in church and loved her class for 2 year olds. She accomplished so much in her short time here.
The morning of Febuary 17th, 2019, Emy did not wake up from her sleep. She was put to bed the night before around 7:30 p.m. We did our typical routine of night-night prayers and snuggles. She went to bed a healthy, almost 21 month old baby, only to be found lifeless the next morning.
As far as her health goes, outside of the common cold and ear infections requiring tubes, she was healthy. There is no reason she should not have woken up that day. There is no measurement for the size of our love for Emy or the hole left behind when she left us. She is deeply loved and missed by so many.
“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are gray.
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you.
Please don’t take my sunshine away”.
